Description

House Fire, 1977. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Image 6 shows seven people, 6 in full firefighting gear outside a blazing house fire. One person is standing in the doorway, two are nearby (one appears to be using the oxygen mask), two more are farther to the left talking and one more firefighter is pulling his gloves on far to the left. There is a person in tshirt and shorts running in from the left his left hand waving. The two windows to the left of the front door have fire billowing out of them and smoke pouring from the door. The image is oriented horizontally. Image 7 is very similar. Two of the firemen and the person in shorts are stadning by the side of the house. One fireman is pulling on his glove. The image is oriented vertically. Image 8 shows two firemen crawling into the building with their hose. There is another fireman standing off to the right. One of the pillars in front of the house have the numbers 1813 on it. The image is oriented horizontally. Image 9 shows three firemen outside the home. One is crouched down spraying water on the house with a fire hose. The other two are standing nearby and a third person wearing plainclothes and a firehat is standing farther away. Image 10 shows two firemen entering the house. One is standing and holding the hose, the other is crawling on their stomach. The image is oriented vertically. Image 11 is virtually identical to the previous image. Image 12 shows two firemen standing outside the house looking at it. There are two windows with fire and smoke coming out. There is another fireman in the background using a hose on the house. Image 13 is very similar to the previous image. The fireman on the right is using a hose to spray the house. Image 14 shows the street in front of the house. In the foreground are the firefighters in a group with police officers and other officials. Beyond them is a large group of citizens watching from the edge of the street. Many are standing right next to the firetruck with their hands on their hips or arms crossed in front of them. The image is oriented horizontally. Image 14 is very similar to the previous image. Many of the citizens are sitting or leaning on something. There are several children sitting down and watching their parents talk. There appears to be a fireman sitting down with most of his gear off, talking to a group of people. There is anothe fireman walking from the right towards the firetruck. One edge of both film strips has "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063" printed on it.
