Terry Geer and Ken Balsley, Ping Pong, 1977. These two black and white negative film strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Image 8 shows two men with ping pong paddles. The man on the left (Terry Geer) is bouncing a ping pong ball on his paddle. He is wearing a collared shirt underneath a coat and glasses. The man on the right (Ken Balsley) is wearing a patterned collared shirt and glasses. He also has a beard and moustache. The ball is mid air directly between the two men. There is a plant to the right of both men. The image is oriented horizontally. Image 9 is very similar to the previous image. Both men are now looking up at the ball high in the air. The man on the right is holding his paddle with both hands now. Image 10 is very similar to the previous image. The man on the right no longer has his paddle and is watching the man on the left bounce the ball on his paddle. Image 11 is very similar to the previous image. The man on the right has his paddle again and is holding it flat to his side. Image 12 is very similar to the previous image. The man on the right is holding his paddle out flat away from his body. Image 13 is very similar to the previous image. The man on the lef tis still bouncing the ball and the man on the right is lowering his paddle. Image 14 is very similar to the previous image. The ball is right in front of the man on the left's head. The man on the right is holding his paddle close to his waist. Image 15 is very similar to the previous image. The man on the right does not appear to be holding his paddle as both hands are out of the frame. Image 16 is very similar to the previous image. The man on the left is bouncing the ball inbetween the two men. The man on the right is watching with no paddle.
These images were captured in relation to a Diabetes Association fundraiser in which Geer and Balsley separately played ping pong against all comers for 50 consective hours. ("Oly Ping Ponger Finishes Third," Daily Olympian, 3/18/1977)
