George Hocott, 1975. These images were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show outdoor areas of the Nisqually Delta. Four of the images also show a man (George Hocott) wearing a Department of Fish and Wildlife uniform jacket. He is also wearing a cap and sunglasses, and he has a tobacco pipe in his mouth. Image 40 shows a close-up of some foliage. Image 41 shows an outside door with a small platform immediately outside of it. There is a flight of stairs ascending from the right-hand side of the platform. Image 42 shows a portion of the Nisqually Delta. A stretch of water enters the image from the left and tapers as it moves toward the right. It reaches approximately 90% of the way to the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 43 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 44 shows a different portion of the delta. A stretch of water extends from the bottom right corner up into the image. The remains of a fence enters the image from the right-hand side, and some of the fence posts are partially submerged. Image 1 shows another portion of the delta. There is a tree just to the left of the center of the image, and a long piece of driftwood in the bottom left corner of the image. Image 2 shows the man (George Hocott) in the Department of Fish and Wildlife jacket standing on a dirt road in the Nisqually Delta. His hands are in his pockets and he is looking toward the right-hand side of the image. His right leg is cocked out to the side slightly. Image 3 is very similar to the previous image, but the man's left leg appears to be cocked out in front of him slightly. Image 4 shows the man in the right-hand half of the image. Both hands are out of his pockets, and his left hand is resting on his left leg. Image 5 is similar to the previous image, but his arms are hanging down at his sides.
These images were created for inclusion with an article in the Lacey Leader newspaper concerning Nisqually Delta Refuge. (Lacey Leader, 10/29/1975, pg.B3)Made/Created
