Albertsons, 1974. These seven black and white contact print film strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. The images will be divided into lettered groups. The images will still be enumerated but the numbers will be following a letter (ex. A1, A2, B1, B2). Image A39 is not included in the contact photo film strips. Image A40 shows a different section of the store. There are display cases and shelving. On the far left of the image are shelves with lines of packages stacked up. To the right of those are the deli display cases. On the wall above the display cases are signs that say "Delicatessen" and "Hot Deli Take Out". There are food processing machines like ovens and meat slicers behind the display cases. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A41 shows the gardening section of the store. The image shows shelves of plants and accessories like fertilizers with plants hanging above them. On the left of the image are the accessories with the fertilizers, different kinds of dirts and watering pails. To the right are the different plants with flowers and ferns. On the far right appears to be a refridgeration case with tools inside. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A42 is very similar to the preivous image. It shows more of the gardening section. It shows more hanging plants and the shelves with plants in front and watering pails behind them. The image is oriented vertically. Image A43 shows one side of a refridgerated aisle. It shows refridgeration units with two shelves above them. The cold area is full of pizzas, fish & chips and similar foods. The shelves above the units are full of alcoholic beverages mostly wines. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A44 shows a different refridgerated aisle. This one has a sign above it with "Deli Foods" on it. The aisle is filled with sliced and packaged meats and cheeses. There are also hanging cured meats. To the far left appears to be an aisle with waterfountains near the beginning. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A1 is similar to the previous image. It shows a close up on a bunch of the hanging cured meats in the deli food section. The meat is the only object in the focus the basket below the meat and the rest of the aisle are blurry. The image is oriented vertically. Image A2 shows a different section of the store. This section has shelves of bread loaves and cases full of doughnuts in the background. There is a sign on the back wall with "Bakery" on it. Below the sign are hanging ornamental balls which partially block the other sign which has "Direct From Oven To You" on it. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A3 shows a clock high on the wall in another part of the store. The time on the clock is just after 6 O'clock. Below the clock, some of the hanging ornamental balls are visible. The image is oriented vertically. Image A4 shows a display of tomatoes in the produce section. In the background of the image are jars of something stacked on the shelves. The image is oriented vertically. Image A5 shows a different display in the produce section. This display shows three different fruits in groups. These are apples, grapefruits and lemons from right to left. The grapefruit appear to have "Sunkist" stickers on them. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A6 shows a sign with a symbol on it. The symbol appears to of a shopping cart in a square with a border on it. The image is oriented vertically. Image A7 shows a freezer aisle full of packaged goods. On the bottom of the freezer units are large containers of icecream. Above the icecream appear to be packaged desserts like pies. On the right side of the image is another unit with cans in it. Above the units are aisle signs with the products in the different aisles on them. The aisle portrayed is aisle 7 and the sign has "Frozen Desserts Ice Cream and Frozen Pies" on it. The signs for aisles 5 and 6 are also visible. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A8 shows a line of cash registers. There only seems to be two or three with anybody in them. There are two people at register 7 and four at register 6. There is a man in a polo walking down the line of registers towards the camera on the right. On the left is another man in what appears to be a sports jersey looking at one of the registers. In the background is the Bakery section of the store. To the left appears to be a room full of plants. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A9 shows a wire rack full of cans. There is a sign in front of the rack with "A-34 Albertsons Low Price Nine-Lives 21" on it. The cans appear to be for cat food as one of the cans has "For Cats" printed on the side. The image is oriented vertically. Image A10 shows another section of the store. There is a sign on the wall with "Quality Meats" on it. There are three workers visible in the image. They appear to be either taking or putting what appears to be meat on a conveyor belt. The man on the left has what appears to be meat in his hand, the man on the right is stand ing next to a stack of containers and the third man is bent over in front of the conveyor belt. The image is oriented horizontally. Image A11 shows a stack of shelves with Shasta soda bottles on it. There are multiple flavors of the soda. The top shelf has Cola, followed by the second shelf with Orange than the third with Grape and then the fourth has Cola again. There appears to be a person to the left of the shelves. The image is oriented vertically. Image B6 shows one side of a freezer aisle. The freezer units are filled with frozen pies and other desserts. The image is oriented horizontally. Image B7 is very similar to the previous image. It shows one side of an aisle. It is hard to say what is in the units but there is a box on the floor with "Whole Hog (HOT) Pure Pork Sausage" printed on it. In the background are the cash registers. The image is oriented horizontally. Image B8 shows a different aisle full of open topped refridgeration units. The units in the foreground are full of cans and towards the background has boxes. To the right of the units is a stack of boxes that have not be loaded into the unit yet. The image is oriented vertically. Image B9 shows a different aisle in the store. The aisle is refridgerated and is full of sliced and packaged deli meats as well as canned meats like honeyed ham. There are hanging baskets and cured meat packages hanging in front of the shelves. To the left of the shelves is a unaccompanied cart. The image is oriented horizontally. Image B10 shows a person in a matching patterned shirt and pants standing at Register 4. She is holidng in her left hand a small booklet and pen and is pushing buttons on the register with her right hand. The image is oriented vertically. Image B11 is virtually identical to the previous image. Image B12 is very similar to the previous image. The woman is standing farther back from the register and the drawer is opening. Image B13 is very similar to the previous image. The drawer is closed and she is pushing more buttons. Image B14 shows a blank cash register. There are two keyholes on the left with a key inserted and turned in the top keyhole. On the top of the register face is the table with the command buttons labels on it. To the left is the model number of NCR 255. On the bottom half of the register are the actually keys to imput the commands. The image is oriented horizontally. Image B15 is very similar to the previous image. It is oriented vertically. Image B16 shows an unknown person wearing a collared shirt with glasses and a tie. He is facing his left and not smiling. The image is oriented vertically. Image B17 is very similar to the previous image. He is facing his right and is smiling. Image B21 shows a group of men standing in front of the store. Of the seven people all but one are wearing ties and only one is wearing glasses. The man in the middle is wearing a jacket with a patch that has "We Care" and other ilegible words on it. Behind them on the storefront is a symbol for shopping cart and "Albertson" on it. To the left of the group is a van and to the right is part of a truck. The image is oriented horizontally. Image B22, B23, B24, B25 and B26 are virtually identical to the previous image. Image B27 is very similar to the previous image. The image is at a somewhat different angle that shows more of the building to the right of the group. Image B28 is virtually identical to the previous image. Image B29 shows a unknown person in suit, tie and glasses. He is facing his left and smiling. The image is oriented vertically. Image B30 is very similar to the previous image. He is facing his right. Image B31 is very similar to the previous image. He is looking at the camera. Image B32 is very similar to the previous image. He is facing his left.
