Description

Gerry Alexander, 1973. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Image 32 shows a man in a judge's robe holding up his right hand and reading from a small book in his left hand. A man (Gerry Alexander) in a suit is facing toward the man in the judge's robe. A second man in a judge's robe is seated at a desk near the right hand edge of the image. A third man in a judge's robe is partially obscured behind the man reading from the small book. Image 33 is nearly identical to image 32. Image 34 is similar to the previous image, but the photographer has moved to his right slightly. Here a seated man facing away from the camera is occupying the bottom right corner of the image. Image 35 is nearly identical to image 34. Image 36 shows Gerry Alexander holding the judge's robe up in front of him as he speaks to an older man in glasses. This older man is holding up a similar garment in front of himself. Image 37 shows the man in the suit and tie at the center of the image with the judge's robe over his right forearm. A man with a mustache wearing a western-stlye shirt is partially visible at the left-hand side of the image frame. Gerry Alexander served on the superior court of Thurston and Mason Counties from 1973 through 1984. (https://olympiahistory.org/justice-gerry-alexander/) These images may show the swearing-in ceremony for his assumption of that office. Printed in alternation along one edge of each of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
