Description

Chinese Garden Musicians, 1973. This single black and white film negative strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show three men posing for a group photo. One man is holding a snare drum, one is holding an electric bass and one is holding an electric guitar. The men are outdoors, and they are arranged around a large piece of driftwood in a rock garden. Image 26 shows the men posing for the photo. Image 27 is nearly identical to the previous image. Chinese Garden was a restaurant in Lacey, Washington. Ken Balsley believed that it was located in the building which now (as of 8/24/2017) houses Tea Leaf 2 near the northeast corner of College Street and Pacific Avenue. (Ken Balsley interview, 8/24/2017) The band shown in these images is "JUSTUS." (Lacey Leader, 7/11/1973, pg. 2) Printed along one side of this film negative strip is "KODAK SAFETY FILM."
