Description

Charlie's 17th Anniversary, 1973. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show Ken Balsley seated at a desk and two other men posing for photos with a vintage car. Image 9 shows Ken Balsey seated at a desk with his right arm resting on the desk. This is his desk at the Lacey Leader office. He is looking toward the camera. Image 10 shows a man in a suit and tie (at left) and a man in sunglasses and a jacket with a patch on the left breast which reads "CHINOOK" (at right) posing for a photo with a vintage car. The men are looking at eachother, and both have one foot resting on the front bumper of the car. A third man, wearing a striped shirt, is visible at the left-hand edge of the image frame. Image 11 is very similar to the previous image, but the man in the striped shirt is not visible in this image. Image 12 shows the man on the left standing with both feet on the ground. The man in the striped shirt is visible at the left-hand side of the image speaking to a man in a long-sleeved, button-up shirt. Image 13 shows a woman in sunglasses walking behind the man in the suit. Image 14 shows a telephone or power pole immediately at the right-and edge of the image above the man in sunglesses' head. Image 15 shows the man in sunglasses looking toward the camera. Image 16 is very similar to image 15, but here a man in a suit is visible walking in the background near the left-hand edge of the image. Image 17 shows both men looking at each other. Visible behind the car are a man and woman looking into the open back end of a van.
