A single photo, taken from across the street (to the SE) showing the Olympic Theatre and other businesses in downtown Olympia. The Olympic's announcement board shows that it is hosting a premiere performance of "Eliza and the Lumberjack" (a play named as the official Washington Territorial Centennial production); that premiere was held on May 14, 1953 and there is a line of people buying tickets. Other business signs in the photo include Boone & Day (real estate & insurance) and the Capitol Theater to the west of the theater, and the McMillan Sewing Machine Co. to its east.

Context

The Olympic Theatre and surrounding businesses were Thurston County businesses in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The play being performed was a the official Washington Territorial Centennial production.
