Arctic Circle, 1973. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show the construction of an Arctic Circle restaurant. Image 15 shows two men kneeling down on some gravel and looking at a blueprint. They are immediately next to a wall on the under-construction building. Image 16 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 17 shows the under-construction building. The lower walls are completed, but the roof has not been put on. Image 18 shows the building at the same level of completion, but the photographer has moved nearer to the building. Image 19 again shows the two men kneeling down and looking at the blueprints. The man nearer to the camera is holding a small piece of wood in his right hand. Image 20 shows a large open field. A portion of a fence is visible in the left-hand background. A portion of the front end of a car is visible in the bottom right corner of the image. Image 21 is similar to the previous image, but here no portion of the car is visible in the image.
The pasit site of the Arctic Circle restaurant in Lacey is now occupied by Arby's on Sleater Kinney Road.Made/Created
