Diabetic Detection, 1975. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show several older people seated around a table and undergoing tests for diabetes, and a man in a suit and tie posing for portraits. Image 21 shows approximately six older people seated around a table. The man nearest to the camera is having his right hand examined by a woman in glasses. Image 22 shows the man nearest to the camera in the previous image seated at a table and looking at a woman in glasses with a nametag on her sweater (the name is not readable in this image). The woman is smiling. Image 23 is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman is laughing. Image 24 shows a different man (Grant Edenstrom) having his hand examined by two women (Helen Blush and Florence De Bruyne, it is unclear which woman is which). One of the women is wearing glasses and the other has on a jacket which bears a pattern of many small rectangles stitched together. Image 25 is nearly identical to image 24. Image 26 is similar to the previous two images, but the photographer has moved to their left slightly. Image 27 is very similar to the previous image, but the man's eyes are open very wide and he is looking roughly toward the camera. Image 28 shows a man (Jim Pill) in a suit, tie and striped shirt posing for a portrait photograph. Image 29 is nearly identical to the previous image.
These images were created for inclusion in an article in the Lacey Leader newspaper concerning ongoing diabetes detection testing available at the Thurtson-Mason Health Clinic. (Lacey Leader, 2/19/1975, pg.10)Made/Created
