Unidentified People, 1977. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. At least two rolls of film were used in the creation of these images, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from. Each of these groups will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. Image 42a shows a man in a suit and a plaid tie posing for a photo. Hanging behind him is a stylized painting of a baby and a tiger in a jungle. Image 43a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 44a shows an older man in a corduroy jacket posing for a photo. He is smiling and facing directly toward the camera. Image 1a is very similar to the previous image, but the man is tipping his head back and to his right slightly. Image 2a shows a man running a checkstand at a grocery store. Image 10a shows a portion of the exterior of Seattle Trust bank. There is a drive-thru window visible, as well as several parked cars and a sandwich-board style caution indicator in the image. It appears that the ground is icy. Image 11a shows a car driving down a road roughly away from the camera. The tops of several cars are visible in the lower foreground. There is a mailbox near the left-hand edge of the image, and in the background is a large stack of many potting-soil style bags. Image 12a shows a blurry shot of Ken Balsley seated in what appears to be an office. Image 13a shows a man in a jacket and a wide-collared shirt posing for a photo. Here his body and head are oriented toward the left-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 14a is similar to the previous image, but here the man's head and body are oriented directly toward the camera. Image 20a shows a man with a tobacco pipe in his mouth looking down at a small object in his right hand. He appears to be in an office or work room of some kind. The man may be Ed Bagley, and he may be in the Lacey Leader offices. Image 21a is similar to the previous image, but the man is closer to the camera and is looking down at a desk/work table. Image 22a shows a seated man in glasses with a mustache typing on a typewriter. He is looking down at the typewriter. There is a calendar hanging on the wall behind him, and it appears to be showing the month of April. Image 23a is very similar to the previous image, but the man is looking over toward the camera.
Image 13b shows two men in aprons and ties standing next to each other and posing for a photo. The man on the right is wearing glasses and a tag on his apron which reads "The Family Grocers" or "The Family Grocery" and "Tom." Image 14b is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has panned down slightly, making more of the two men's torsos visible in the image.
Printed at intervals along one long edge of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."Made/Created
