North Thurston Cheerleaders, 1974. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show seven young women and two young men in North Thurston High School cheerleader uniforms posing for photos and performing cheerleading routines. Image 21 shows a young woman holding a pom-pom and leaning up against a tree. She is smirking slightly. Image 22 is nearly identical to the previous image, but she has a large smile on her face. She has braces on her teeth. Image 23 shows two young men wearing male cheerleader uniforms leaning up against a tree. The young man on the left is wearing glasses and a wrist watch. Image 24 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has zoomed out or moved away from the two young men. Image 26 shows seven young women and two young men, all in cheerleader uniforms, posing for a photo in front of a large North Thurston High School sign. The young women are standing in a line in front of the sign, and one of the young men is standing at each end behind the women. Image 27 shows all nine of the cheerleaders standing in a horseshoe-shape. One of the female cheerleaders is at the center, and one of the male cheerleaders is at each of her sides. The remaining female cheerleaders are at the far left and right ends. A parked car and a house are partially visible in the background. Image 28 is very similar to the previous images, but the photographer has lowered their point of view slightly. Image 29 is similar to the previous two images, but the photographer has moved closer to or zoomed in on the cheerleaders. Image 30 is similar to the previous image, but the photographer has backed away from the cheerleaders very slightly. Image 31 shows the cheerleaders performing a cheer routine. All of the female cheerleaders have their arms extended straight up into the air. The two male cheerleaders have their arms extended out in front of them. Image 32 also shows the cheerleaders performing a cheer routine. The three young women nearest to the camera are doing the splits. Image 33 also shows a cheer being performed. Five of the female cheerleaders have their arms extended out and downward diagonally. Image 34 shows five of the female cheerleaders with their arms extended outward in front of them and diagonally upward.Made/Created
