Thurston County Parks & Rec. Sign and Aberdeen Sign, 1975. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Image 11 shows a sign which reads "Thurston County Parks & Recreation Dept. (although "Parks" and the end of "Dept." are outside of the image frame. There is also a logo which is a combination of a tree, a leaf, a water droplet and a lake or waterway. Image 12 shows a closer-up view of the same sign. Only part of "Thurston" and "& Recreation" are visible in this image. Image 13 shows the entire sign. Image 14 is centered on the logo. Imag 20 shows a model-sized mock-up of a building. This may be a planning model for the current Lacey City Hall. Image 21 shows a highway on-ramp. There is a sign next to the on ramp which reads "Aberdeen" and "Port Angeles" and has an arrow pointing to the left. Image 22 is nearly identical to image 21. Image 23 shows a sign which reads "Aberdeen" and "Port Angeles" and has an arrow pointing to the right. Image 24 shows an area of tall grass bounded on the left by trees.
Larry Otos, Thurston County Parks and Recreation Director, was likely responsible for the design of the department logo shown in these images. (Ken Balsley interview, 9/1/2017)
Printed in alternation along both long edges of these two film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."Made/Created
