Tillman Paint Store, 1973. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show Gail and Bill Jensen, owners of Tillman Paint Store located at 3936 Pacific Avenue, with their son, David posing for photos at their paint store. Image 28 shows a woman (Gail Jensen) in a dress looking down toward the camera. Image 29 shows a man (Bill Jensen), Gail Jensen, and a young boy (David Jensen) standing in a doorway. A sign wrapping around the doorway reads "the paint store." Image 30 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has moved to their right approximately three feet. Image 31 is very similar to the previous image, but the photgrapher has moved away from the Jensens. Image 32 is very similar to image 31, but the photographer has moved approximately twelve feet to their left. Image 33 is similar to image 32, but the photographer has moved closer to the Jensens. Image 34 shows Ms. Jensen standing in front of several displays of what appears to be wallpaper. She is laughing. Image 35 shows Mr. Jensen standing in front of many catalogs on several bookshelves. There is also one roll of wallpaper hanging behind him. Image 36 shows David Jensen standing in front of one of the bookshelves with catalogs on it. At the left side of the image is Mr. Jensen's torso and legs.
The Jensens purchased Tillman Paint Store on May 1, 1971. (Lacey Leader, 5/9/1973, pg.11) The store was located next door to the Lacey Leader offices, and David Jensen would often come over to the Lacey Leader offices to play. Later, the Jensens changed the store's name to the "Paint Paint Store." (Ken Balsley interview, 9/1/2017)Made/Created
