Description

Lacey Leader Interviews with City Folks, 1973. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show portrait-style photographs of eight different people. They appear to be standing outside of a supermarket. Image 44 shows an unidentified woman in horn-rimmed glasses and a button-up sweater holding an unbloomed flower in her hands. She is looking at the camera and smiling. Image 1 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has either moved closer to or zoomed in on the woman. Image 2 shows a man (Patrick Dickerson) with a mustache and nearly shoulder-length hair wearing a sweater over a patterned, collared shirt posing for a photo. Image 3 is nearly identical to the previous image, but the photographer has zoomed in on Mr. Dickerson slightly and pitched the camera upward slightly. Image 4 shows a woman (Mildred Fox) wearing a coat over a shirt with a zipper. A sign displaying business hours is partially visible at the right-hand edge of the image frame. Image 5 is very similar to the previous image, but Ms. Fox is smiling slightly and the photographer has panned to the left slightly. The sign displaying business hours is not visible in this image. Image 6 shows a woman (Muriel Staley) in a nearly round pair of glasses and a turtleneck sweater posing for a photo. Ms. Staley is not smiling, and there is a box truck parked behind her with the back door open. Image 7 is very similar to the previous image, but here Ms. Staley is smiling. Image 8 shows a woman (Rhonda Kinzig) wearing a coat with sheepskin lapels over a sweatshirt posing for a photo. She is smiling. Image 9 is nearly identical to image 8, but here a passing car is visible over Ms. Kinzig's right shoulder. Image 10 shows a woman (Marie Hembree) in oval glasses and a jacket over a sweater with small octagons on it posing for a photo. She is smiling and her head and body are oriented toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 11 shows Ms. Hembree as in the previous image, but here she is facing toward the camera. Image 12 shows a man (Rod Rosch) with shoulder-length hair and a goatee wearing a jacket over a patterned, button-up shirt posing for a photo. Image 13 is nearly identical to image 12. Image 14 shows a man (Tom Hoey) wearing a jacket over a striped, button-up shirt posing for a photo. He has his head turned toward his left and upward slightly. This image was captured inside of the store. The images described above were taken for use with a story concerning public opinion on a proposed change in Lacey's city government. Printed in alternation along one long edge of this film negative strip is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
