Description

Unidentified People, unknown dates. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show four children sitting under a Christmas tree and holding presents, a group of seven young adults posing for indoor and outdoor photos at North Thurston High School, and portrait-style photos of a man (John Gott) in glasses and a suit and tie. Image 15 shows three little boys and one little girl seated under a Christmas tree. All four are holding toys. The child at center-left is holding a fabric toy with the letters A, R and K on it. Images 16-17 are nearly identical to image 15. Image 20 shows three young women and four young men posing for a group photo in what appears to be a school music classroom. The three women are in front, and the four men are in back. The woman at center is looking over toward the woman on her right. The young woman at right appears to be Margaret Jacobsen, a class of 1974 North Thurston High School student and violinist. Based on this, these images presumably show a North Thurston High School student musical group between 1970 and 1974. Image 21 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has moved toward their left approximately ten feet. All of the young adults are looking directly toward the camera. Image 22 shows the same group of students posing for a photo outdoors. There is a building in the background which is likely North Thurston High School. The faces of all seven people are fully visible. Image 23 is very similar to the previous image, but the young man on the far right's face is partially obscured behind Margaret Jacobsen's head. Image 24 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer appears to have stooped down to look slightly upward toward the seven young adults. Image 25 is similar to the previous three images, but the photographer has moved to their right approximately ten feet. Margaret Jacobsen is looking over toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 26 shows a closer-up view of the group of young adults. The bottom edge of the image frame is at approximately knee-level of the young women in the front row. Image 27 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has zoomed out or backed away from the seven young adults. The bottom edge of the image is at ankle-level of the young women in the image. Image 28 shows a man (John Gott) in glasses, a patterned tie, a striped shirt and what appears to be a corduroy jacket. Mr. Gott's head and body are oriented slightly toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 29 is very similar to the previous image, but Mr. Gott's head and body are oriented slightly toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 30 is nearly identical to image 29. Printed on the strip bearing images 15-17 is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063." Printed on the other strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
