Description

Darcy Fast and Quick Capital Aeroporter, 1973. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a man (Darcy Fast) in glasses posing for photos in front of a home and a man and a woman (Shirley Fricke and Jim Fricke) posing for photos in front of a Dodge van. Image 3 shows Darcy Fast in glasses, a striped shirt and a patterned tie facing toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He appears to be standing in front of the front door of a home. There is an arrow-shaped decoration on the door visible just above Mr. Fast's head. He is not smiling, and the image is oriented vertically. Image 4 is similar to the previous image, but here Mr. Fast is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 5 is similar to image 4, but Mr. Fast has a larger smile on his face and the image is oriented horizontally. The street number for the home is also visible in this image, and it is 4706. Image 6 shows Mr. Fast looking toward the camera and not smiling. The house number is partially visible to the right of Mr. Fast. Image 7 Shirley Fricke wearing slacks and a button-up shirt and Jim Fricke in a plaid jacket and pinstriped pants posing for a photo with a Dodge van. Both people are looking toward the van. The image is oriented vertically. Image 8 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has zoomed out or moved away from the two people. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 9 is nearly identical to image 8. Image 10 Is similar to the previous two images, but here Mr. and Mrs. Fricke are looking toward the camera. Image 11 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has moved towards the Frickes and slightly to the left. Image 12 is very similar to image 11, but Mrs. Fricke is reaching up and touching the van with her right hand. These images were created to accompany two separate articles in the Lacey Leader newspaper. The images of Mr. Fast were created to accompany an article concerning Mr. Fast's temporary employment agency Tempo Services, as well as his previous experience as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team. The images of Mrs. and Mr. Fricke were created to accompany an article concerning their airport shuttle service Capital Aeroporter. (Lacey Leader, 7/5/1973, pg.9) Printed in alternation along one long edge of these two film negative strips "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
