Bernie Winogrocki, 1974. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a woman (Bernice or "Bernie" Winogrocki) knitting and displaying knitted garments, and a man's face. Image 11 shows a man with a mustache looking directly at the camera. The man is only shown from the shoulders up, and a lake or wide river is visible behind him. Image 12 shows Bernice Winogrocki seated in a recliner and knitting. Her right-hand side is oriented toward the camera. Image 13 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has moved to the opposite side of Mrs. Winogrocki. A small table with a lamp, a box of kleenex and several other items is visible at the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 14 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has panned to the right very slightly. Image 15 is very similar to the previous two images, but Mrs. Winogrocki is holding her knitting nearer to her face. Image 16 shows Mrs. Winogrocki standing and holding up a knitted, sleeveless top up in front of her torso. She is facing toward the camera and smiling. Image 17 is similar to the previous image, but here Mrs. Winogrocki is looking down at the knitted top in her hands. Image 18 shows Mrs. Winogrocki looking down at the knitted top in her hands. A television is visible in the background between Mrs. Winogrocki's back and the left-hand edge of the image frame. Image 19 shows Mrs. Winogrocki wearing a knitted scarf. She is facing toward the camera. Image 20 shows Mrs. Winogrocki placing a knitted cap on top of her head. She is still wearing the scarf. Image 21 shows Mrs. Winogrocki wearing the knitted cap and scarf. She is smiling. Image 22 shows Mrs. Winogrocki seated in a chair. She is leaning forward and wearing a necklace made up of many shells or small stones.
These images were created for inclusion with an article in the Lacey Leader newspaper concerning Bernice Winogrocki's artistic and community pursuits following her retirement. (Lacey Leader, 3/13/1974, pg.3B)
