Rotary Project, Dan Baker and Lee Gifford, 1974. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Image 10 shows two men (Dan Baker and Lee Gifford) crouching down in a field full of small gardening pots with plants in them. The man on the left (Lee Gifford) is wearing a wool sweater with a zig-zag pattern on it. The man on the right (Dan Baker) is wearing a zippered jacket with a plaid shirt underneath. Image 11 is nearly identical to image 10. Image 12 is very similar to image 11, but the photographer has moved several feet closer to the two men. Image 13 is similar to image 12, but the photographer has again moved closer to the two men. Image 14 shows the men in the same position as in the previous images, but the photographer has again moved closer to them. The photographer is standing over the men and looking downward toward them. Image 15 is similar to image 14, but the photographer has moved away from the two men slightly and the man on the left is reaching down to touch one of the pots. The angle of the shot suggests that the photographer was crouching down when capturing this image. Image 16 is very similar to image 12, but the man on the left appears to be speaking to the man on the right. The man on the right is looking toward the man on the left. Image 17 is similar to the previous images, but here the man on the right is looking toward the camera. Image 18 is very similar to image 17, but the two men are looking toward each other.
These images were captured for inclusion with an article concerning a Lacey Rotary beautification project. The project involved planting greenery along a stretch of Pacific Avenue. (Lacey Leader, 11/6/1974)
