Olympia Little Theatre, 1976. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a performance of a passion play at the Olympia Little Theatre. Eight people are present on stage. Image 28 shows the character playing Jesus standing at the far right looking forward while the seven people to the left of him look toward him. One seated person near the center of the group is pointing a rod or sceptre at the Jesus character. Image 39 is very similar to the previous image, but the person with the rod/sceptre is no longer pointing it at the Jesus character, Images 40 and 41 are nearly identical to image 39. Image 42 shows the Jesus character being pointed at by a man in a headdress. Between the Jesus character and the man in the headdress is a seated man holding a rod or sceptre. Only these three characters are visible in this image. Images 43, 44 and 1 are nearly identical to image 42.
A passion play is a religious performance performed by some Christian denominations, most commonly Catholics. These plays reenact the trial, torture and death of Jesus Christ.
Printed along the bottom edge of both of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."Made/Created
