Description

Black and white photo of eight persons on a beach tending to a fishing net. On the left is a man with dark hair wearing a plaid jacket over dark trousers. He is holding the ends of two topes that dangle down to the bottom of the print. Next to him is a person bending over and reaching for the nets. Based on the hair style it is assumed that it is a female. Behind her part of another person is visible. Next is a man with dark hair and glasses wearing gray waders over a dark shirt with a white sleeve visible. Next is a man wearing a hat and glasses and holding a cigarette in his mouth. He has on a gray jacket over dark trousers. He is holding a part of the net. Next is a man wearing a dark stocking cap, a dark sweater, and gray trousers. He is holding a part of the net. Next is a man mostly bald with a gray jacket and white trousers. The man on the right has on a hat and a quilted jacket over dark trousers. There is a wooden beam in the foreground and what looks like crab traps behind the people. In the middle background is water and beyond that are trees on a hill. A strip of paper has been pasted to the bottom of the print and folded onto the face. On it is typed "Getting ready to make repairs on a damaged net are members of the Squaxin Island tribe and students from The Evergreen State College who are helping the tribe develope a new aquaculture project. ----photos by Tom Johnston". There is a white border on all sides with the top and bottom borders being larger. There is no additional information on the back.
