Lacey School 5th and 6th grade classes from the 1924-1925 school year depicted in a brown-toned black and white 7" x 11" photograph. This photograph was taken in March of 1925. There is a border around the image. There are 38 people pictured; 37 students and one teacher. The front row is comprised of ten boys, the second row includes twelve girls, the third row the teacher plus five boys and three girls while the back row has seven boys. The group is pictured outside on the side of the Lacey School. Students in the front row are sitting cross-legged on the ground, those in the second row are sitting on a bench and the remainder are standing. The back row appears to be standing on a raised surface, possibly a bench. The teacher stands at the far left, just behind the third row of students. In the lower left corner, in white is written: "1847."
Pictured in this photo are the following students, beginning in the front row, left to right: Two unknown students, Joe Reinhardt, an unknown student, Mel Gibson, Billie Dent, and four unknown students. The second row: Ruth Heusman, Betty Ann Dent, two unknown students, Viola Larson, two unknown students, Emma Hannge, Bessie Yates, Thelma Warren, an unknown student, and Marie Dow. Third row: Janet Mitchell, Miss Margaret Flynn, Mable Russell, Linnea Peterson, Raymond Dodge, Melvin Heusman, an unknown student, Alvin Smith and an unknown student. Fourth row: Herman Hannge, four unknown students, Charles Williams and Fred Nelson.
On the reverse at the top center in pencil is written: 3rd Top Joe Reinhart, 5th 2nd from top row, Mel Gibson Mel Heusman." in the upper right corner is written in pencil: "neg #3508" presumably by museum staff. A blue ink stamp vertically reads: "This size 35 cts. Mounted, 60 cts. Order by number on face of picture. Perkins' Studio, 314 Crown Bldg. Second & James St. Seattle, Wash." And to the right of this in pencil: "5 & 6 Grades 1925 March." On the far right edge, written vertically in pencil is: "A lot of kids wore knee pants But Im the only one who had to wear a neck tie.
