Lacey School 8th grade class from the 1930-1931 school year depicted in a black and white 5" x 7 " photograph with an uneven white border. There are 50 students and one teacher pictured. The front row is comprised of eight boys, the second row eleven girls, the third row the teacher and five boys. The teacher, Mr. Willard Miller, is standing in the far left of the back row. The group is pictured outside in front of the Lacey School. The students are facing forward. The first row of students is sitting on the bottom step with arms crossed and resting on their knees. The remaining rows are standing on the steps with hands clasped behind their backs. The top portion of the image shows the architecture of the school including the brick columns and the windows and doors beyond. One of the doors is open. At the bottom left of the image is written in white: "9245" and in the upper right another number, possibly 45, although it's hard to read. Handwritten along the top right edge in black ink is: "1930 8th."
Pictured in the front row, left to right: Willard Miller, Harry Firkins, Edgar Morris, Wesley Smith, Earl Prichard, Richard Levesque, Pershing Wright, and Ford Mullen. In the second row: Margaret Miller, Julia Shrewsberry, Esther Akers, Margaret Dent, Kathryn Dodge, Florence Ulery, Clarice Watson, Edna Wooster, Eleanor Hartman, Mary Iyall and Eleanor Suslik. On the back of the photo, in the upper right corner is written in pencil: "#1632" and below this "1994-048" presumably by museum staff. At far left is the year "1931" and the number "1632." There are many accretions of adhered paper present due to this photograph having been removed from a photo album. Visible in the center is the photographer's stamp: "Frank Perkins, Photographer, 548 North 68th St., Seattle, Wa[sh.] Order by Number on face of pict[ure] This size 25¢ - Mounted 40¢".
