Description

Lacey School 7th grade class from the 1932-1933 school year depicted in a black and white 5" x 7 " photograph with an uneven white border. There are 50 students and one teacher pictured. The front row is comprised of ten boys, the second row twelve girls, the third row five girls, the fourth row eight boys and the teacher. The teacher, Mr.Barnard, is standing in the far right of the fourth row. The group is pictured outside on the side of the Lacey School on steps in front of doors and windows. One door is open. The students are facing forward. The first row of students is sitting on the bottom step with arms crossed. The remaining rows are standing on the steps. At the bottom left of the image is written in white: "111311". Handwritten along the top right edge in blue ink is: "Mr. Barnard Teacher." Handwritten under a student in the first row, fifth from the left is: "Snap" with an arrow. Pictured in the front row, left to right: Claude Huntamer, Vernon Sholund, Johnny Wilson, Leslie Ray, Gordon "Snap" Foy, Junior Watson, an unknown student, Jim Schirmer, Hilbert Larson, and Karl Larson In the second row: Margaret Cohrs, Marie Firkins, Alice Skillman, Catherine Kramer, Harriet Stewart, Lois Robinson, Evelene Bowker, an unknown student, Katheryn Mays, Mary Forster, Margie Russell, and Louise Prichard. In the third row: Olive Groom, Mary Lou Dent, Verna Luke, Dorothy Bagley, and Perlia King. In the fourth row: Albert Peppard, Paul Miller, an unknown student, Bob Finney, Orren Olson, Joseph Walsh, Jack Wooster, an unknown student, and Mr. Barnard. On the back of the photo, in the upper right corner is written in pencil: "#627 & 1483" and below this "Lacey School 1932-1933 7th grade" presumably by museum staff. On left edge, oriented vertically in pencil is "Donor: Ollie Van Slyke." At left, oriented vertically is the photographer's stamp: "Frank Perki[ns], Photographer, 548 North 68th St., Seattle, W[ash.] Order by Number on face of pi[cture] This size 25¢ - Mounted [40¢]".
