Description

Lacey School boys' baseball team from the 1932-1933 school year depicted in a black and white 5" x 7 " photograph with an uneven white border. There are 13 boys and one teacher (coach) pictured. There is one boy sitting in the center of the front row while the other seven boys are standing. The second row is comprised of five boys and the teacher/coach. Most of the boys are wearing a light colored long-sleeved shirt with "Lacey" on the front, and some of the letters are faded. The boy sitting in the front row is dressed in a light colored shirt with vertical pinstripes and the word "Lacey" emblazoned on the front. In front of him is an aesthetic arrangement of baseball equipment, including a baseball in a baseball glove, a catcher's mask and two baseball bats in a "V" shape. Most of the boys appear to be wearing bi-colored knee socks. Eight of the boys are visibly holding baseball gloves. The boy at far left is wearing regular clothes and glasses. The teacher, Mr. Claude M. Manley, is wearing a suit, including vest, tie and jacket. The group is pictured outside on the front steps of the Lacey School. The doors are visible behind them. The students are facing forward. At the bottom left of the image is written in white: "111314". Pictured in the front row, left to right: Jack Wooster, Gordon "Snap" Foy, unknown student, Robert Watkins "Junior" (sitting), Jack Iyall, Dean Huntamer and Leslie Ray. In the back row: unknown student, Dick Hicks, unknown student, Mr. Claude M. Manley, Emil Zindt, and Orren Olson. On the back of the photo, in the upper right is written in pencil: "#626" and at upper left is "1932-1933", presumably by museum staff. At right, oriented vertically is the photographer's stamp: "Frank Perkins, Photographer, 548 North 68th St., Seattle, Wash. Order by Number on face of picture, This size 25¢ - Mounted 40¢". Written vertically at right: "Ollie Van Slyke".
