Plays, Theatre, 1977. These ten black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using five separate rolls of film, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, each of the strips will be assigned to a group based on which film roll they originally came from. Each of these groups will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a scene in a play being acted out by four actors. Image 42a shows a man in glasses at the right-hand side of the image speaking to three other people. All four are gathered into a loose circle. The man in glasses is gesturing slightly with his left hand. Image 43a shows the man embracing the woman to his left in the circle. The two actors not involved in the embrace are looking at the two actors embracing. Image 44a is similar to the previous image, but the two actors not involved in the embrace are looking at each other. Image 1a is similar to image 43a, but here the two actors embracing appear to also be kissing. Image 2a is similar to the previous image, but the two actors not involved in the embrace are speaking to each other. Image 3a shows the two actors previously kissing still embracing, but looking eachother in the face. Image 4a shows a female actor pouring a drink. Image 5a shows a male actor in a blazer holding up his right index finger. Image 6a shows the female actor and the male actor in the blazer reaching out toward a male actor in a sweater. Image 7a shows the actor in the sweater appearing to faint. The female actor and the male actor in the blazer are attempting to hold the fainting actor upright. Image 8a is very similar to image 7a. Image 9a shows the fainted actor slumping to his left while being held up by the other two actors. Image 10a shows the actor in the blazer carrying the man across the room. Image 11a shows the actor in the blazer approaching a couch with the fainted actor. Image 12a shows the actor in the blazer attempting to set the fainted actor down on the couch. Image 13a shows the fainted actor laying on the couch while the other two actors look on. Image 14a is very similar to the previous image, but here the female actor is reaching her left hand out toward the fainted man's face.
The images in group "b" show a scene in a play with a young woman in a dress interacting with a young man seated on the stage with a blanket over his left leg. Image 2b shows the young woman standing with her hands on her hips and looking upward. The young man is touching his chest with his left hand. Image 3b shows the young woman bending down and reaching her right hand out in front of the young man's face. The young man is looking intently at the young woman's hand. Image 4b shows the young woman holding a fist up in the young man's face. The young man appears fearful. Image 5b again shows the young woman holding a fist in the young man's face, but here the young man is leaning down toward the stage to move away from the young woman. Image 6b shows the young woman standing with her hands behind her back. The young man appears to be sucking his thumb. Image 7b shows the young woman standing with her hands on her hips and lookng down toward the young man. The young man's head is inclined in the direction of the young woman. Image 8b is nearly identical to image 4b. Image 9b is nearly identical to image 5b. Image 10b shows a roadway being paved. Image 11b is nearly identical to image 10b.
The images in group "c" show seven people gathered around a small table. Five of the people are standing and two of the people are seated. The seated person on the left is holding what appears to be a portrait painting of a person with a rabbit in the background. The seated person on the right is holding a telephone receiver.
