Description

Yelm Water Tower, 1976. This single black and white film negative strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show the water tower in Yelm, Washington, as well as a portion of the surrounding area. Image 35 shows the water tower in the background. A coniferous tree is obscuring the right-hand support legs of the tower. A body of water is in the foreground, and there are two ducks visible swimming in the water. Image 36 is very similar to the previous image, but here an unknown object near to the camera is visible near the bottom right corner of the image. Image 37 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has panned to the left slightly. A leafless deciduous tree is occupying the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 38 shows the water tower from a different vantage point. Several branches of a coniferous treenear to the camera are visible at the left-hand edge of the image. Image 39 shows the water tower from another vantage point. A sign reading "ENTERING YELM" is visible in the foreground. Another sign declaring Yelm to be a "Bicentennial Community" is visible to the left of the "ENTERING YELM" sign. A picnic shelter and several other small buildings are in the middle ground of the image. Discolorations are obscuring the printed film type label along the edge of this film negative strip.
