IT Busride, 1978. These seven black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show one or more Intercity Transit buses, a bus driver and passengers. Image 14 shows a bus driver driving a bus. Image 15 shows a woman sitting in a bus seat's lower back and purse. Image 16 shows four older women sitting in adjacent seats on a bus. All of the other visible seats are empty. Image 17 shows an older woman wearing a jacket and with a pamphlet in her hand immediately behind the bus driver's seat and speaking to the bus driver. Both the woman and the bus driver are facing away from the camera. Image 18 shows the same bus driver and older woman from the previous image, but the photographer has moved to their right, showing the woman and the bus driver in profile. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 19 is similar to image 18, but here the pamphlet in the woman's hand is visible. This image is oriented vertically. Image 20 is very similar to image 19, but here the older woman is grasping a metal pole with her left hand. This image is oriented vertically. Image 21 is very similar to image 20, but here the image is oriented horizontally. Image 22 also shows the older woman and the bus driver, but here the older woman has turned away from the bus driver. The photographer has also stepped back from the woman and the driver. Image 23 is very similar to image 22, but the older woman is no longer in the image. Image 24 shows the bus driver seated in the driver's seat and turning back toward the camera. He appears to be speaking and is gesturing with his left hand. Image 25 is very similar to image 24, but here the driver has turned his head slightly to look into the bus's rearview mirror. Image 26 is similar to the previous two images, but here the photographer has moved backward and panned downward slightly. Image 27 shows the interior of the bus. The image was captured from the back of the bus facing forward. Approximately six passengers and the driver are visible. The image is oriented horizontally. Image 28 is very similar to the previous image, but here the image is oriented vertically. Image 29 is nearly identical to image 27. Image 30 is similar to the previous three images, but here an older woman holding a large envelope or folder is getting onto the bus. Image 31 shows the entrance area of the bus. A woman with long hair is partially visible in the bottom right corner of the image. Image 32 shows a woman with glasses speaking to the bus driver. She is leaning toward the steering wheel and appears to be looking at something in the driver's hands. Image 33 again shows the woman speaking to the bus driver. The woman's hands are up in the air. Image 34 shows a view through the front window of the bus. The bus is appraoching and older woman waiting at a bus stop. Image 35 is very similar to the previous image, but here the bus is much closer to the woman.
The remaining images do not have physical numbers at their edge, but they will be referred to as images 36 through 41. They will be numbered moving from left to right, beginning with the image of the bus driver driving the bus. Image 36 shows the bus driver driving the bus. Image 37 shows an exterior shot of a bus approaching an older man in a fedora waiting at a bus stop. Images 38 through 41 show the bus moving progressively closer to the man waiting at the bus stop.Made/Created
