Description

Unidentified People, 1976. These nine black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using five separate rolls of film, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each of these groups will be assigned a lower case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a tall bearded man (Ron Rowe) in a suit and tie standing between two women in frontier-style costumes. The woman at left is pinning a button on Mr. Rowe's lapel. The button reads "Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Jubilee '76 May 28, 9." The woman at right is holding a basket. Image 35a shows Mr. Rowe looking toward the woman pinning the button on his lapel. Images 36a through 39a are nearly identical to image 35a. Image 40a shows Mr. Rowe looking downward. Image 41a and 42a are nearly identical to images 35a thhrough 39a. Image 43a is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has zoomed in or moved closer to the subjects. Images 44a and 1a through 3a are nearly identical to image 43a. Image 4a shows Mr. Rowe looking toward the woman holding the basket. The images in group "b" show one boy and one girl riding bicycles. Image 27b shows both children looking toward the camera while riding their bikes. Both of the children's left feet are below the bottom edge of the image frame. Image 28b is similar to the previous image, but the photographer is further away from te children. The girl is looking toward the camera and the boy is looking forward. Image 29b is similar to image 27b, but the two children are closer together and the photographer is further away. Image 30b shows the two children riding their bikes toward the camera. Image 32b shows the two children standing next to their bikes. They are looking down toward their bikes. The images in group "c" show a man in an apron preapring food in what appears to be a commercial kitchen, the same man seated at a table, and a different man serving panckes to Karen Fraser and an unknown man in glasses. Half of image 29c is missing. Image 30c shows the man in the apron cutting something on a cutting board. He is looking toward the camera. Image 31c is similar to the previous image, but here the man is looking over his left shoulder toward the camera. Image 32c shows the man seated at a table and smiling toward the camera. Neither of his arms are resting on the table. Image 33c is very similar to the previous images, but here the man is resting both arms on the table. Image 34c shows a man in a tie and plaid pants serving a plate of small pancakes to Karen Fraser and an unknown man in glasses. Ms. Fraser and the unknown man are both holding on to a small object with one hand. Ms. Fraser and the unknown man are both looking at the object. Image 35c is very similar to the previous image, but here Ms. Fraser is looking toward the left of the camera and laughing. Image 36c is nearly identical to image 34c. The images in group "d" show a young man in glasses who appears to be working in a lab, and a billboard with Uncle Sam on it which reads "KISS THE LEVY GOODBYE PEOPLE SAY ITS TOO HIGH."
