Scenery, 1978. These three black and white contct print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show farmlaond, wooded hillsides, parked cars, a Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlor, the Washington State Capitol Building, and a bird flying. Image 3 shows a small strip of farmland, with most of the image showing the sky. At the bottom left corner is the top of a roof, and at the bottom right corner is a row of power lines. Image 4 is very similar to the previous image, but the photogrrapher has panned down very slightly. Image 5 shows a wooded area across the bottom of the image. Image 6 shows a mobile home, a pickup truck, a horse trailer, a portion of a barn or similar outbuilding, and three horses in an area of cleared farmland. Images 7 and 8 are nearly identical to image 5. Image 9 shows a wooded hillside. Images 10 and 11 are nearly identical to image 9. Image 12 shows several cars and a van parked alongside a road. A 7-11 sign is visible in the background. Image 13 shows the exterior shot of a Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlor. Image 19 shows the Washington State Capitol Building at the top center of the image and the Capitol campus's power house in the bottom-right corner of the image. Image 20 is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has zoomed in on the Capitol Building. The smokestack of the power house is visible in the bottom-right corner of the image. Image 21 shows a bird flying in the air. It's wings are held near to its body. Image 22 is very similar to the previous image, but here the bird's wings are outspread. Image 23 is similar to the previous two images, but here the photographer has zoomed in closer to the bird.
Ken Balsley believed that the images of farmland in this group show the proposed site for a future local school. He was unsure of which school. (Ken Balsley interview, 9/22/2017)Made/Created
