Description

Unidentified People, 1976. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower case letter to go along with the physical numbers (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a woman and a man seated at a desk with one man standing next to the seated man, and a woman standing in front of a window with a bird-shaped cutout hanging in the window. These images appear to be from theatrical stage performances. Image 17a shows the woman knitting and the seated man writing something on a small piece of paper. The standing man is looking down at what the seated man is writing. Images 18a through 26a are nearly identical to image 17a. The images in group "b" show a stop sign at an intersection or "T" in a road, and a woman with short curly hair The intersecting roads, as seen on the street sign, are 21st Ave SE and Sleater Kinney Rd SE. Image 19b shows the intersection with a van parked near the right-hand edge of the image frame. The van is facing away from the camera, and appears to read "CENTRAL RECYCLING" across the back doors. A person in a long jacket carrying a purse or other bag is walking toward the van. Image 20b is very similar to the previous image, but here the van and the person carrying the bag are no longer in the image frame. Image 21b is nearly identical to image 20b. Image 22b shows the woman with short, curly hair posing for a photo. She is wearing a flower-print top, and only her head and shoulders are within the image frame. Image 23b is nearly identical to image 22b. Printed in alternation along the bottom edge of all three of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
