Potterer, 1976. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a man throwing vessels on a pottery wheel. Image 6 shows a man forming a pot on a pottery wheel. He is holding a sponge in his right hand and the fingers of his left hand are inside the pot. This image's perspective is looking somewhat downward on the man. Image 7 is very similar to the previous image, but the man is hunching forward toward the pot more than in the previous image. Image 8 is similar to the previous two images, but here the photographer appears to have stooped down, and the image was captured at a slightly upward angle. A fairly large section of the ceiling is visible in this image. Image 9 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has moved significantly closer to the man. Image 10 shows the man seated at the pottery wheel, but here he is touching the wheel itself (not the pot) with both hands. The man is also looking over toward his left. Image 11 shows the man leaning far over toward his left. Image 12 shows the man looking forward. His left hand is near to the pot which he is throwing, and his right hand is not within the image frame. Image 13 shows the man trimming a strip of clay from the top of the vessel on his wheel. Image 14 shows the man shaping the pot on the wheel. The middle finger of his right hand is almost completely extended. Image 15 shows the man with the fingers of his left hand within the pot and his right hand in a half fist approximately two inches away from the vessel on his wheel. Image 16 is very similar to image 6. Image 17 shows the man throwing vessel on his wheel, but the photographer has moved to his right. A small table with many small scraps of clay on it is in the foreground. Image 18 is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is leaning to his right slightly. Image 19 is very similar to image 17. Image 20 shows the man with a small ball of clay in his hands. He is looking straight forward and appears to be speaking.
Printed in alternation along the left-hand edge of all of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."Made/Created
