Description

Round wooden bass drum, probably from Civil War era with parchment-style animal skin drum heads. Reddish-brown stained hoops with 8, metal braces. Sides are black ebonized wood. Round metal swing loop attached to side, possibly for drummer's neckstrap. Regulation pattern (see Sears, Roebuck 1897 Catalog, pg. 529).
