Status: Record Updated Street Address: 189 Riverside Drive City: Painesville Original Owner: Charlotte Goldsmith Gregory LCHS ID #: 24 Year Built: c. 1825 Architectural Style: Greek Revival with some Italianate details Applicant Name: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Daily Description and Notes: The house is thought to have been built for Charlotte Goldsmith Gregory, the younger sister of architect Jonathan Goldsmith (not verified), and her husband Samuel Gregory. The story and a half vernacular with some Greek Revival details and some Italianate details (probably added later) has a front gable roof and three bays. It is asymmetrical with the front door being off to one side. The door has shudders and two lights. There is a covering that extends out from the half story. The windows on the first story are elongated one over one double hung windows, which appear to be the same height as the front door. These windows have a hooded lintel. The second story windows are less decorative with simple sills and lintels; these are one over one with shudders. The eaves have decorative brackets. A small addition is on the side of the house, the facade portion has no windows but the three bays on the side do. The eaves also appear to have the same double paired brackets as the main portion of the house. There is a hipped dormer that appears to have a single window.
