Description

Storrs & Harrison - Office and seed room - Painesville, Ohio In 1854, Jesse Storrs of Courtland County, New York bought eighty acres in Painesville Township and began a nursery. A few years later, James J. Harrison came on as a partner and from this came the Storrs & Harrison nursery which grew to be the largest departmental nursery in the United States. The nursery closed in 1947. Many of the later Lake County nurserymen served their apprenticeships and learned their skills here.
