A black and white photo of alligator and babies caught in Lake Jackson. Five teenage boys are holding the baby alligators as they are kneeling behind the adult alligator. Four younger boys are gathered around the teenagers.
Article about the photo reads:
This 8 foot 8 inch alligator was "bagged" alive from a slough near Lake Jackson on Sunday, March 4, by the boys posed here with it. The story of its capture is a tale of courage, ingenuity and perseverance on the part of its captors. Imagine having a death grip on this fellow's tail as it slithers down a muggy bank towards the water's edge, and being aftraid to turn lest you become the entree on its menu. Imagine the powerful jaws snapping shut just inches from your body as the reptile whirls, first to the right, then to the left, in an attempt to break your hold. These boys can tell you every hair-raising detail of the 3 hour struggle, and final capture of the creature with - picture it- a 10 foot "lariat." The big gator and its less fearsome family of five are now part of the scenery in a San Antonio zoo. The boys, left to right: Richard Wayne Hassell, Deryle Cox of the Austin Company; Pierce Hassell, Jr. of Plant B Electrical, Leon Skeete and James Singley, all of Lake Jackson.
