Description

B/W Photo of 1943 Freeport Tornado damage to grocery store on 5th Street. Byline reads "There was no looting from this demolished grocery building, but the rainstorm that followed the.....tornado washed away stocks of cereals and other packaged perishable foods. The store is the .....Food Market on Fifth, where the O'Neals and Guidrys did their marketing. Although roof and walls were ripped away, canned goods remained neatly stacked on shelves and pyramided on the floor."
