Black and white photo of a large pipe that leads into what appears to be a furnace, a section of the lime kiln at Dow. Lime kilns are about 250 Feet long with an ID of 7 feet and are lined with refractory brick. The dolomite is heated to 1300 C to decompose and drive off carbon dioxide, leaving calcium oxide and magnesium oxide, or dolime. Taken November 1975.Collection
