Dark-room Photo Box. Tag: DARK ROOM PHOTO BOX/Was used by Doctor Skinner (one of the first doctors in Lakewood./He said that he helped pay his way in collage [sic] taking and printing pictures. He gave the box to me (Clarence Rieper) about 1950
"Lid" of box Wood with metal hinges, clasp, and plates attached. Three pieces of wood are attached to the lid, with two forming a hinged flap; the reverse side of these have soft batting-type cushions. On center piece label attached, reads: KODAK AMATEUR PRINTER/MANUFACTURED BY /EASTMAN KODAK CO/ROCHESTER N.Y. U.S.A./ PATD. JULY 14, 1914, NOV9, 1915, RE APR. 18 1916/PATC MAY 14 1916/TRADE MARKS REG U.S. PAT.OFF. in lower left corner 12922. On lid base, four pieces of black and rusted metal, left piece slides, but the rest do not move. There is a piece of glass affixed under the metal pieces. One shorter edge and one longer edge have a small metal pole attached, the one on the longer edge is very delicate and attached by one screw. On underside of "lid" is raised wood with oval hole above the glass panel on short edge, small hole near corner on the same side.
Box outside. Made of wood, with woven wrapped electrical cord on right side. Small metal knob on short side with an extra lip of wood attached, this lip has a small metal hook attached. left side of outside has a cutout with stained canvas affixed inside. opposite short side has metal hook.
Box inside. the box has a small shelf, it moves will knob on outside of box, with two light bulbs affixed, on red and larger, the other white and smaller. Above this is another piece of wood affixed below a narrow slit in the base of the box. To left long side is the canvas panel, to right long side is the power corde entrance. One cord goes to the light bulbs, the other goes to the top of the box where there is a lever mechanism attached. Two more cords go down to the light bulbs. the interior is painted a metallic grey.Inscription/Signature/Marks
