Description

Jacket; short waistcoat, black with gold oak leaf applique. US Army Formal Mess Jacket. Sleeves have black velvet at the cuff with a vein of oak leaf embroidery (machine) in gold (yellow) thread. There are small crushed velvet spots on both. Above both cuffs are three silver stars (denoting rank) each star is attached to the sleeve at it's points. 6 U.S. ARMY HAMILTON-FINISH GOLD DRESS BUTTONS on the front of jacket three on left and three on right. The buttons are size 30-ligne, with the U.S. coat of arms, (Bald eagle with shield in front of the torso is blue across to quarter with vertical red and white stripes in lower 3/4’s. Ribbon in eagle’s beak reading: E. PLURIBUS UNMUN (FROM MANY ONE). The eagle holds an olive branch to its right and arrows to its left. About Eagel is a blue scalloped shade with 13 stars in white. Yellow surrounds the blue shape with a fluffy white ring.) Two loops on both shoulders. Four button holes, two on left and two on right. Collar has exposed satin lining. Inside jacket is lined with satin, no interior buttons. Right front label: "Unforms Since 1891/ A. Jacobs & Sons/BALTIMORE, MD/Made to Measure" Tag at collar "Made in U. S. A. by/American Craftsmen/DRY CLEAN ONLY"
