A Church and Its Village: St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Laurel, Maryland
Entry/Object ID
2007-0025-0005
Description
This is the story of a community that has grown like topsy ever since a Snowden mill, encircled by hillsides of wild laurel, first began to attract workers to the banks of the Patuxent River 200 years ago. Its location along the primary north-south land route was an essential element as a village began to form to house mill workers. Men and women came over the seas to put their roots down here.
