1945.09.07 Japanese crowd celebrating victory over China
Description
9-7-45
Nanking people turn out into the streets to cheer Chinese troops. Every main street in Nanking was thronged with cheering crowds as units of the American-trained Chinese new Sixth Army marched in to take the city over from the defeated Japanese two days before the formal surrender was signed at the former Chinese capital. The Sixth Army was moved from the interior of China to Nanking, Shanghai and other cities on the China coast by the U.S. Air Transport Command. 301-FO
