This is a high-quality Lathi (traditional Indian staff), measuring approximately 5 feet in length. It is crafted from a single, robust section of solid-core bamboo (often referred to as "male bamboo" or Dendrocalamus strictus), known for its exceptional density and lack of a hollow center.
Construction: The bamboo has been seasoned and oiled, a process that prevents cracking, increases flexibility, and darkens the wood to a rich golden-brown patina. The prominent nodes (joints) provide natural grip points and structural reinforcement along the shaft.
Handle: The staff features a natural root-ball handle (the rhizome of the bamboo), curved into a comfortable ergonomic grip. This indicates the staff was harvested with the root intact, a mark of superior traditional craftsmanship.
