This is a Tegha, a distinctly broad-bladed variant of the traditional Indian Talwar. Renowned for its intimidating profile and devastating cutting power, this specimen is mounted with a classic Karanshahi hilt, a style deeply rooted in Rajput martial tradition. Blade: The blade is exceptionally broad and features a deep curvature, expanding significantly toward the tip (the yelman region). This geometry places the center of percussion far forward, maximizing kinetic energy for shearing strikes. The blade also features multiple deep fullers (grooves) running along its length, a critical design element that reduces the overall weight of the massive blade without compromising its structural rigidity. Hilt (Karanshahi): The hilt is forged in the Karanshahi style, named after Maharana Karan Singh of Mewar (early 17th century). It is characterized by its elegant, unadorned grip and the absence of a knuckle bow, allowing for high wrist mobility. The quillons (crossguards) flare out cleanly, and the grip swells slightly in the center for a highly ergonomic hold. Pommel: The hilt terminates in a large, prominent disc pommel designed to lock the hand firmly in place during heavy downward swings. The interior of the pommel disc is decorated with a deeply engraved sunburst (Surya) motif, a powerful symbol often associated with the Suryavanshi lineage of the Mewar Rajputs. A prominent pommel spike allows for close-quarters striking.
