This is a Modern All-Steel Dhal, a functional, hand-forged reconstruction of the classic Indian circular shield. While traditional dhals were often made of hide (like the semi-translucent Rhino hide specimen in your collection), this version utilizes high-carbon steel to provide a contemporary take on medieval defensive engineering.
The Body: The shield is forged into a perfect convex curve, designed to deflect the energy of a strike away from the wielder's center. The steel surface has a clean, brushed/satin finish that highlights the authentic hammer-work and forging process.
The Bosses (Gulz): The face is mounted with four prominently flanged steel bosses arranged in a central square. Each boss features a serrated, sunburst-style base plate, providing both structural reinforcement at the handle anchor points and a sharp, aggressive aesthetic.
The Crescent (Chand): A large, polished steel crescent moon is riveted above the bosses. In Indian martial culture, the Chand is a powerful symbol of the lunar dynasty (Chandravanshi) and protective divinity.
Reverse Side: The interior is lined with a heavy-duty black leather backing and a thick square cushion. The grip system consists of four reinforced rings connected to braided paracord handles, which offer superior durability and grip compared to traditional leather straps.Made/Created
