This is a heavy-duty, traditional Long-Handled Chopper (often functioning as a specialized Dharia or fodder cleaver), crafted by the same Gadiya Lohar nomadic blacksmiths of Rajasthan. Acquired directly from the maker in Jodhpur, it shares the rugged, utilitarian DNA of the Tabar, built entirely for survival and harsh daily use.
Blade: The blade features a distinct, forward-flaring cleaver profile with a straight spine and a curved, convex cutting edge. This geometry concentrates the mass at the distal end, generating massive chopping momentum. The steel retains a raw, dark forge-scale finish, bearing the authentic, overlapping hammer marks of the smith's anvil.
The Shaft: The most striking feature of this tool is its solid iron shaft. Instead of a short tang set into a long wooden handle, the steel extends down to form the handle itself. This design effectively turns the tool into a short polearm, providing extended reach while ensuring the shaft cannot splinter or snap under heavy impact.
Handle: The base of the iron shaft is fitted with a short, ergonomic wooden grip carved from dense Babool wood (Acacia nilotica), secured tightly with an iron ferrule.
