This is an authentic Antique Jambiya, the iconic curved dagger of the Arab world, specifically originating from the Yemen or Hijaz (Saudi Arabia) regions. This specimen dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and represents the "Saidi" or "Asir" style, characterized by its all-steel hilt and robust, functional construction. The Blade: The blade is short, broad, and double-edged with a dramatic upward curve. A prominent central ridge (mid-rib) runs the entire length of both sides, providing the structural rigidity necessary for powerful thrusting. The steel shows an honest patina with some historical pitting, indicating its age and utilitarian past. The Hilt: This version features an all-steel hilt with a waisted grip and a broad, flaring pommel. The pommel is surmounted by a small, spherical steel finial. Unlike the ornate silver-clad "Darbar" versions, this steel hilt is designed for durability and a secure grip in high-friction environments. The Scabbard: The dagger is housed in its original wooden-core scabbard, wrapped in dark, aged leather. It is accented with white-metal (likely silver-alloy or tinned steel) fittings, including a fluted locket and a pierced, decorative chape at the tip.
