This is a modern, high-fidelity reconstruction of a Katar (also known as a Bundis), the iconic H-shaped punch dagger unique to the Indian subcontinent. While not an antique, this piece has been crafted using authentic forging methods with 1095 high-carbon steel, a material favored by modern bladesmiths for its excellent edge retention and toughness. Blade: The blade is a classic triangular, double-edged form with a reinforced "armor-piercing" tip. It features deep fullers (grooves) that reduce the weight of the blade without sacrificing structural integrity, a hallmark of traditional Indo-Persian smithing. The Handle: The hilt consists of two parallel side bars connected by two transverse grip bars. The grip bars are ergonomically shaped, allowing the user to clench their fist and deliver powerful, straight-line thrusts. Material: The use of 1095 steel ensures that the blade is functional and durable. Unlike decorative stainless steel replicas, this forged carbon steel requires regular oiling to prevent oxidation, much like the original historical pieces. Scabbard: It is accompanied by a custom-fitted brown leather scabbard featuring a steel chape (tip) with decorative cutouts, mirroring the traditional protective hardware found on historical Indian daggers.Made/Created
