This is a high-performance Modern Khanda, a custom-forged reconstruction of the legendary straight sword of India. While the Khanda is one of the oldest sword forms in the subcontinent, this specimen is built with a contemporary focus on structural purity and functional mass, prioritizing the "process" of heavy impact over ceremonial ornamentation.
Core Components & Engineering
The Blade: Features a broad, straight, double-edged profile that flares slightly toward the tip. It is forged with a reinforced blunt tip (spatulate), a hallmark of the Khanda, which shifts the weight forward to generate massive kinetic energy during a swing.
Reinforcing Plates: The blade is equipped with long, pierced steel reinforcing plates that extend from the hilt along the first third of the blade. These plates act as structural gussets, strengthening the junction where the most stress occurs during a heavy strike.
The Basket Hilt: A robust steel basket hilt provides total protection for the hand. The grip is wrapped in black leather, offering a high-friction, secure hold. The interior of the guard is lined with red velvet padding to absorb shock and protect the knuckles.
The Pommel Spike: It terminates in a long, curved steel spike. This is a tactical feature that allows for two-handed use (the second hand gripping the spike) to increase leverage, or for delivering "hammer blows" in close quarters.
