This is a Bhojpure Khukuri, widely considered the "heavyweight" of the Khukuri family. Named after the Bhojpur district in Eastern Nepal—a region famous for its master blacksmiths—this style is characterized by its broad, thick blade and substantial weight. Unlike the slender Sirupate you cataloged earlier, the Bhojpure is a "power" blade designed for high-impact chopping. Blade: The blade is exceptionally wide (belly) and thick at the spine, providing the momentum needed for heavy-duty tasks. This specimen features traditional decorative engravings along the spine, including a brass inlay line, which adds a touch of refinement to its rugged build. The Cho (Kaudi): It features the classic Nepalese notch near the bolster. In this example, the cho is well-defined, serving its practical purpose of stopping blood from reaching the handle and its symbolic purpose of representing the trident of Lord Shiva. Hilt: The handle is crafted from dark Indian Rosewood (Sissoo), featuring a prominent central grip ring and a brass bolster and pommel plate. This type of handle is favored for its shock-absorbing properties during heavy use.
